BBC Radio 1 Weekend in Ibiza 2011

The Radio 1 weekend is legendary in Ibiza as every year the Radio 1 DJs take a break from broadcasting in the UK and head out to the white isle for what must be the most popular weekend in August. The first weekend in August is when DJs such as Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Trevor Nelson and Judge Jules bring over artists like Example, 2 Bears, Skream with Sam Frank PA, Little Dragon, Calvin Harris, Erick Morillo & Shawnee Taylor, Nic Fanciulli, James Zabiela, Azari & III and Carl Cox for one of the biggest parties of the year.

This year, instead of a weekend, Radio 1 will be bringing 12 hours of live music to the island for one day only. Friday 5th August is when Playa D’en Bossa will be alive to the sound of music starting from 3:30pm and being broadcast live on Radio 1 throughout the day.

The party will begin at the brand new Ushuaia hotel at 3:30pm when Radio 1 will be hosting their free daytime party. Rob Da Bank, SBTRK, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Hip Hop Karaoke, Professor Green and DJ Alfredo will be warming everyone up for the marathon that follows. From 7:00pm Annie Mac and Pete Tong will be manning the decks and presenting some of the hottest dance acts around. Example, 2 Bears, Skream with Sam Frank PA, Little Dragon, Calvin Harris, Erick Morillo & Shawnee Taylor, Nic Fanciulli, James Zabiela, Azari & III and Carl Cox will be playing live in the Ushuaia courtyard until 12:00am.

If this isn’t enough, Radio 1 will be broadcasting an extended live essential mix across the the road in the legendary Space nightclub at the Friday night party Come Together. Listeners will be able to continue the party right through the night until the sunrises on Saturday with Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Deadmau5, Knife Party live, Magnetic Man live & Skream and Benga all getting involved. The live broadcast comes to a close between 5.00am – 7:00am with a two hour Rob Da Bank terrace special.

Tickets for the weekend can only be reserved in Ibiza – so no online tickets I’m afraid. To get the free party wristbands then attend the following venues – get there early though as there will be a lot of you wanting them.

Transport: a free bus service will be operating between San Antonio and Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel in Playa d’en Bossa on Friday 5th August from 1300. Access to this service will be for those with wristbands only.

Tickets for the Come Together party at Space can be purchased directly from us, so no need for queuing for this one.

Radio 1 have confirmed that there’ll be a daytime party from 3:30 at the new Ushuaia Hotel, featuring Rob Da Bank’s Wig Party with SBTRKT, Professor Green, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Hip Hop Karaoke and DJ Alfredo. They’ve also confirmed how to get tickets!
